Afghan Puppies

Description

We have a litter of 7 orphaned puppies in Afghanistan that we're trying to bring home to their waiting families in the United States. Their mom was shot, and we took in the puppies and began to feed them and nurse them back to health. There is one male Bubba aka Archer, and six females Lana, Freckles, Moxica, Duchess, Patches and Foxy in the litter. Right now, we have about 10 different people caring for the puppies, coming by every day to feed/water/play with them... and boy does it make the time here go faster! There's nothing like getting to spend time with these sweethearts at the end of the day - it's like a little taste of home, and a break from the monotony of working seven days a week in a harsh environment, far away from our families. We've had to move the puppies to a more remote part of the compound, and have put together a safe fenced-type area for them to live, which keeps them from interfering with the working dogs on base, and keeps them safe from ordnance/other wild dogs, etc. in the area. Sometimes, we even get to bring them into the office with us, and boy do they love to lay on the cold tile floor in the air conditioning - the summers here are brutal!

Our base is probably closing in the next year or so, as we begin the military drawdown in Afghanistan, and we'd hate to see the puppies getting left behind... they're just so sweet, and smart... and we're hoping to give them better lives in the United States. You can help bring these puppies home, by making a donation to our fundraising. All donations are tax deductible.

Lana is going home to a wife and her daughters, whose husband was killed in Afghanistan. Moxica is going home to a soldier who helped to raise and take care of these puppies in Afghanistan. Patches is going home to a K-9 handler in Afghanistan, who will be training her to become an explosives-detection dog. The other four still need good homes, and we are looking for applications...
